I first heard Mr Ross and his brother onstage in the Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago 15 or so years ago. Nothing Joel has offered up since has changed my opinion that he is a bad dude. Calling this After The Wind this week after yesterday’s crazy weather.

Jack DeJohnette. Saw him in performance with John Abercrombie 40+ years ago at Coe College. Halfway through the set he moved from drums to piano. I hadn’t done my homework and was not prepared for this. Just fantastic. I’ll be playing two or three by him this Saturday.

This album is comprised of two sessions. One has Bud Shank on alto, the other Joe Henderson on tenor. This is Bud Shank. The pianist is Rock Island, Illinois native Keith Greko. None of them are around anymore, but it is some nice stuff. Playing some of it tonight.
