Duck, or you'll get whacked by the TransitDeathSpiral. Guess what: WE NEED ALL OF IT YESTERDAY. The bus should be FREE for those can't afford it and it should be made BETTER for everyone else. Stop telling us we have to pick and choose amongst the crumbs.

We should spend the crumbs thrown to bus service in America (compared with subsidizing single occupancy car travel) on shorter headways, expanded times for fixed route service and rapid transit routes, according to ALL the Ivy League transit experts out there.

I was born during the tail end of the interstate highway construction boom. “Urban renewal” policies including cheap mortgages to relocate to the suburbs, drained our city centers, killed transit and locked in the need for the personal automobile. I didn’t choose it.
