Absolutely—wished I’d included quote from Julie as well, but didn’t get the post threaded correctly before it took off. Really appreciated both of their insightful perspectives. Takaichi did not enrage Beijing. Beijing chose to be enraged as a strategy for managing Takaichi. For Beijing, tantrums are strategy. The PRC has full agency and could have chosen a range of responses. It stupidly chose to lock itself into a position of rage that constrains its options going forward

Sick and tired of all these ‘centrists’ & ‘moderates,’ who think the problem with Dems is they need to be more ‘inclusive’ of bigots and misogynists, but faster to kick marginalized folks and minorities to the curb.
