Very welcome! Sounds like your instincts were right on track. And, actually YA without romance is something I know teens are looking for. Used to get asked for recs while working in the bookstores, so there's definitely an audience wanting that. Good luck! 🤞🏽

Should be YA. Rule of thumb: If your MC is 8-12yo, then it's MG. If your MC is 13-17yo (18 if they're still in HS), then it's YA. Kids and teens tend to read up rather than down. (This is the advice I give publishers.)
