Strike That
@jayabird.bsky.social
Mom, small business owner, book nerd, wannabe general strike organizer. Hobbies: gardening, games, cheerful defiance in the face of overwhelming odds. The *entire world* runs on the unpaid labor of women. When we strike, it all grinds to a complete halt.

about which thing? i lost track. also i have to plunk a brisket in the slow cooker, and invigorating as all this is i kind of feel like we're all just repeating ourselves

best of luck to you all. call BS or not, make fun all you like. I don't care. i do care that the plutocracy gets dismantled.

Unconventional would be the job I got out of school. Totally unconnected.

I definitely dont have advanced degrees in all those subjects, though. While I don't care what anyone here thinks (good thing, eh?) for my own honor, I dont want to misrepresent myself.

Fwiw I didn't intend to attack OP (and apologize without reserve to them.) I got attacked myself, but I dont care.

I do care that folks

- maybe stop alienating the millions who own capital, aren't plutocrats, and could be allies

- use words correctly, it matters. bsky.app/profile/jaya...
My whole point: ppl "defining" words on social media with their own personal spin is Not Helpful. Par example: At No Kings, we saw ppl w "No Kings" signs harass others w a "Rule of Law" sign. Upon inquiry, the harassers replied in all sincerity that as communists they were against law enforcement.
December 4, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Huh. That is interesting.

I've always wanted to be petit something or other.

Is bourg middle class, or the skilled tradesman class? or is it French for "those who persist in posting regardless of common sense" (by which I mean me.)

ok. I confess. the literature courses were really on classical literature. And while i loved textual criticism, I got a shameful shameful B in it. Feels good to get that off my chest.

Yes, the term "capital class" exactly what you describe.

Capital and capitalism are related but distinct concepts, from each other and from the capital class.

It matters because a world without capital is much harder for people to even envision than a world without the capital class.

Ffs. Cite a definition. Otherwise you are proving my point for me.

oi, you know what. nvm. go on just being wrong, confusing the crap out of other ppl, and using speech that alienates those who might otherwise agree with and support your position.
December 4, 2025 at 4:43 PM
I guess I see what you mean.

It's been many years since I took advanced graduate courses in history, literature, and business. But yes, this thread has convinced me that y'alls ill-defined and inaccurate use of "capitalism" will help us work together to achieve the changes we all urgently need.
December 4, 2025 at 4:39 PM
You tell me to google, someone else told me googling proved how ignorant I am, and others said it didn't matter what I cited because I am terrible/white/old/lame/wrong/too reliant on Merriam-Webster vs Oxford English.

It's almost like social media is reaction devoid of thought....

That's quite a span.

I am Gen Oregon Trail, if that helps fulfill any preconceived ideas about me. Kids in middle school. We had email in high school but I didn't use it til college.

Can't believe people got this worked up about confusing capitalism with plutocracy.
December 4, 2025 at 4:31 PM
my god, read a book? never!!!!! what an idea. but wherever will I find one?
December 4, 2025 at 4:26 PM
I can shit post more easily outside, as I have the full use of my hands :)

It's 36 here. although, also not raining. but good for your brain to get outside regardless

not mad but, as always, concerned ppl would rather be mean than, you know, actually do something useful.
December 4, 2025 at 4:25 PM
do you? from a site called investopedia.

(Per this thread, me using a site with the word "invest" probably means I'm a) a liberal white Karen b) a wanna-be Bezos c) illiterate d) not really a dog owner e) deeply invested in convincing everyone here of my bona fides)
December 4, 2025 at 4:17 PM
I totally agree. I also hate managing people. That's why we don't do employees - profit-sharing partners, all the way. If we ever need more (and have more money for lawyers) it will be a worker-owned biz. we can dram.

i mean dream. that one was just a reg typo
December 4, 2025 at 4:11 PM
aah big tent coalition building at it's finest.

I've never been piled on before. I don't get why ppl would mind. It's no more or less fun than anything else on social media.

Nice day out. recommend getting outide, if you can
December 4, 2025 at 4:07 PM
that's fair. this is the only post here that actually made me pause, think, and feel bad about myself. well done
December 4, 2025 at 3:45 PM
omg you are funny. This is actually the best part of this thread for me. Keep guessing! I love ppl who mansplain me to me
December 4, 2025 at 3:42 PM
this being my exact point.

do you really want to hate on people who believe in free enterprise? because lots of people believe in free enterprise *and* in socialized healthcare/education, worker-owned businesses, etc.

Hating on robber barons is fine. Hating on the bodega owner, not so fine
December 4, 2025 at 3:41 PM
yes. and what is capital, again?
December 4, 2025 at 3:38 PM
And yet, here i am
December 4, 2025 at 3:38 PM
sadly the first thing that popped up on google was ai slop. and you are totally free to think whatever you like
December 4, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Although I think bourgeoisie meant "middle-class", at least it did 500 years ago. No idea about today.
