"Kool-Aid"

And it's not drinking anything, I don't support Labour, I'm a Green member but I do happily accept when another party does something right, this is a step in the right direction
November 27, 2025 at 3:50 PM
So because male privilege exists (quite clearly) misandry isn't also an issue? Right. Makes sense. 🙄
November 27, 2025 at 2:43 PM
I made an observation, not a claim. Again, different things. So no burden of proof remains on them. I made no counter-claim.
November 27, 2025 at 2:42 PM
I actually didn't make a claim. I merely pointed out that the opportunity for the proving he knows her doesn't start and end with the ring. Might want to read my comment before you reply because now you just look a little foolish.
November 27, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Yeah in the UK it tends to be a "for now" thing then the wedding ring is generally chosen by the wife-to-be
November 27, 2025 at 1:58 PM
That's my point
November 27, 2025 at 1:57 PM
Personally I see the proposal as a sign of his love for her and as I have said, we don't have all the information so we are just assuming his motives
November 27, 2025 at 12:03 PM
Coercion is abuse.

I agree with that point. Regardless of where you are proposed to, the right to refuse should always exist and be respected
November 27, 2025 at 12:02 PM
You don't wear an engagement for the rest of your life.

Also could've been availability too.

Erm under this budget, she'll pay more of her money to the taxman. I'm all for raking them over the coals but come on. This budget definitely hit the super rich harder than we expected - not hard enough in my opinion
November 27, 2025 at 10:57 AM
They tried the same thing private school VAT
November 27, 2025 at 10:56 AM
They mean misogyny right?
November 27, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Actually it does. The burden of proof here is on you as I made the original statement therefore you are required to say why I am wrong, not just offer a. meaningless gainsay
November 27, 2025 at 10:54 AM
Not even slightly the same situation and your false equivalency shows me that you don't understand that.

One is a display of love and commitment the other is an act of abuse and violence.

Behave.
November 27, 2025 at 10:52 AM
Or maybe it's a way of displaying your love to the world in a way that not many people would ever be able to.

Many women idolise the romance films they grew up with and WANT a spectacle to be made of their big decision.

To paint is as quietly abusive is beyond the pail frankly.
November 27, 2025 at 10:51 AM
You're assuming they aren't. Knife cuts both ways here.
November 27, 2025 at 10:49 AM
Or it's about the romance of the spectacle and has nothing to do with "forcing her" to say yes. 🙄
November 27, 2025 at 10:49 AM
It's a matter of the symbol, what's wrong with just telling him that in private and getting a different ring? We don't know how many times it was spoken about

Honestly there is a lot of information missing here that we realistically need to make a decision on WHO is in the wrong, if indeed they are
November 27, 2025 at 10:48 AM
Why do you think he won't? Sounds like quiet misandry to me.
November 27, 2025 at 10:47 AM
It's ludicrous to think that at all. We don't know what her "requirements" were and they could've been absolutely unaffordable and he may just have wanted to show her that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

Bad take.
November 27, 2025 at 10:21 AM
Honestly? Very entitled. He is getting off extremely lightly and should never look back. She is high-maintenance and definitely not worth the rest of his life.

The ring is a symbol of a proposal not "showing that you know her" that's later. That's the wedding. That's the rest of what comes after.
November 27, 2025 at 10:15 AM
Why?
November 27, 2025 at 10:13 AM
It literally wasn't. The media and the polling system are two very different beasts. Also we know that Reform are doing well because of the billionaires and the support they're receiving from the far-right and the BBC is complicit because of how often Farage gets to grandstand on Question Time.
November 23, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Not what I said at all but go off buddy
