In today’s Vatnik Soup, we’ll introduce an American billionaire, real estate developer, and wannabe diplomat, Steve Witkoff. He’s best known for trying to sell Ukraine to Putin and for helping Trump sell this treason and encouragement of genocidal war as “peace”.

Even before Trump took office in January 2025, the US was ranked 32nd in the Freedom of Expression Index, while the top 12 spots are all European countries.

Musk in 2022 affirmed to EU Commissioner Breton that he agrees with all provisions of the DSA; now he is now saying it is censorship.
The US can destroy a European's life with the swipe of a pen
This week's US sanctions against European lawmakers and privacy activists is a major escalation. And it shows the dangers of Europe relying on American economic infrastructure.

Yes, everybody knows there is only one warmonger here in Europe. And not only is putin inflicting senseless terror and hardship on millions of innocent civilians, he is indeed also a notorious liar. May 2026 bring justice and accountability for the russian war criminals #stoprussia #StandWithUkraine
In 2025, Russia has been framing the EU and Ukrainian leadership as "warmongers", who don't want to stop the war in Ukraine. This, of course, is an outright lie. In reality, it's the Kremlin who has rejected at least seven peace proposals in 2025 alone.

Don't be deceived.

EU-Mercosur is, my apologies, a no-brainer. The US no longer wants a close relationship with Europe. Everyone is shouting for diplomacy and engaging with others. But quite frankly: who would those others be outside Europe if we are not ready to engage with South America?

Remember, Europeans are not going to confiscate the money.

They just want to agree to loan to Ukraine, and the loan must be backed by those Rus government assets.

What a bunch of cowards and losers. Just take them all, those not even enough!
Russia has promised “the harshest” response if its sovereign assets are used to fund Ukraine, in a threat that has alarmed countries including Belgium, Italy and Austria.

If EU fails to ratify the EU-Mercosur agreement, that will prove the critics right. The EU member nations are unable to support even trade agreements while the world is falling apart.

This agreement is obviously good both for Europe and South America, but bad for lobbyists.

#De-risking the US is going to be much harder than de-risking China.

China has control over many critical *products*. The US has control over many critical *services*, including IT and financial ones. #deriskUSA #deriskChina #decoupleRussia
This is EXACTLY why I am slowly pulling out of the American cloud. Exactly this - and just plain theft.

Mega heat pumps are coming. It’s great to see that so many projects are now underway around the world.

There’s a real competition on who builds the biggest heat pump.

Technology has come a long way and keeps getting better.

When I talk to people in the industry, they agree. 80% is the over/under with current tech. Arguing about '100%' is driven by narrative, an ideal to be asymptotically approached, not policy & strategy. '100% at national scale is impossible' is a straw man.
The real story isn’t “renewables are cheaper” — we already knew that. An 82% renewable grid breaks marginal pricing. Once wind, solar + batteries dominate, fossil generators stop setting peak prices. Scarcity rents collapse. Volatility dies.
That’s the system shock incumbents fear — not ideology. ⚡🔋
Electricity generation costs would be a third lower with 82% renewable grid, CSIRO says
Modelling suggests main electricity market could run almost entirely on renewables without increase in generation cost by 2050
