As someone with a very strained relationship with his family I can relate to this, I've gone an record to state that I handled my last talk with my ex grandmother horribly, now I never talk to her, I don't want anything to do with her.
These family members aren't entitled to see us they lost.

This just reinforces the idea that jester, and characters like her, are good impacts on other characters. Some time you just need a chaotic lunatic to be your hype man, it happened with luffy. It happens with Jez, and it will happen with jester.
