It really is just plain arrogance.

But the weird thing was I quickly learned doctor attitudes vary by region. New England docs were the worst, Cali docs were super laid back. Office managers were always my favorite to talk to because they actually knew how to interact and what they needed.

I did phone customer service for malpractice insurance once:

Someone wanted to change their policy, which required a signed form, and the doctor said "I run my own practice I am FAR too busy to sign a form. You can go ahead and make that change for me now" and then just hung up.
