Big Bird sighs and takes a long drag on his cigarette when the people who never bothered to learn his name instead refer to him by his appearance and species.

No one knows his pain and loneliness because while you can’t smile with a beak, you also can’t frown.

If this isn’t the start of a 30-year Trump family reign maybe it’s a good idea to change things so that the whole system doesn’t hinge on honor, shame, and norms because the exact people who lack honor and shame don’t care at all about norms
For 125 years, White House architecture was protected only by an honor system. When Donald Trump abruptly demolished the East Wing, he shattered that culture, Neil Flanagan argues.
White House Architecture Was an Honor System. Trump Noticed.
For 125 years, informal norms constrained what a president could do to one of the nation’s most famous landmarks.

I think any story about Trump's autocracy should be mostly about the people and institutions who failed to stop it. This guy isn't a political genius, everything else just happens to be rotten. 'Toddler Consolidates Power In Household' is a story about incompetent parents, not shrewd maneuvering

If you’re wondering what happens in a version of Back to the Future where Marty doesn’t stop Biff and Biff goes on to become president, turns out it’s not great.
Oct 27th 1985 - Marty confronts Biff in the alternate 1985, and travels back to 1955 to retrieve the sports almanac from young Biff

The Democrats are the Washington Generals to the GOP’s Globetrotters. They get paid to show up and get dunked on. They hate their own voters way more than they hate Trump, and they can fundraise on being the only opposition to Trump while shrugging that they can’t do anything.
Where exactly are the Democrats on this? There is going to be no better symbolism of Trump's utter vandalism and corruption of American government and democracy.
The White House heard the complaints

Dismissed them as “manufactured outrage”

And kept demolishing the East Wing on Tuesday

Crazy that the US gov got on Bluesky literally just to troll. The only way to “win” against a narcissist is to remove the attention. Anything else gives them what they want.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

SpongeBob would absolutely be radicalized by Patrick. Mr Krabs is the business owner who looks the other way because fascism makes him rich. Squidward and Sandy would be the only real resistance, Sandy because it’s right and Squidward because he’s a born contrarian.

At least AI slop is fairly easy to spot. This is also why I make poor design choices. Like you can spot a natural diamond by its flaws, I show that I am human by my poor understanding of Adobe Illustrator and very tenuous grasp on the core concepts of audio engineering

I’ve gotten into Japanese green tea and order it from a place in Kyoto (bougie I know but it’s cheaper and better for me than coffee or beer). Checked on the site and there’s now a $17 tariff on $26 (200g) of tea.

In 1957 Batman donned a rainbow suit to distract criminals because Robin was injured and he didn’t want people drawing connections to an injured Dick Grayson.

Right-wing commentators are freaking out about Batman going woke, proving the rainbow suit still distracts the bad guys 68 years later.
