The CMHC garden suite and multiplex design catalogue got a lot of well-deserved attention. The companion Material Guide by Ha/f Climate Design is equally impressive. It provides a life-cycle assessment of the cost and carbon of each choice of materials to inform low-cost, low-carbon, construction.

For 46(!) years, Professor Rick Haldenby has led the Rome Semester for fourth year students at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. Everyone I know who studied there raves about the experience. Tonight I got to join Rick for a glass of wine in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere!

New integrated bike/bus platforms on Wellesley Street. These platforms keep the bikeway clear for people cycling, while providing sidewalk-level access for people boarding and exiting TTC buses. /4

Toronto’s Cycling and Pedestrian Projects Team continues to hit it out of the park. Out for a ride today and here’s just some of the new cycling facilities that I came across. New concrete planters and permanent curbs on Harbord Street. /1
