I will forever be haunted by this footage.

Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity.

What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives.

A morning stroll around the lanes near home here below the Castell de Santueri gave up 4 Hawfinches which all showed well feeding around fields with fruit trees. Also some nice Chaffinch flocks (virtually no Brambling on the island this winter) and a couple of Hoopoes.

A great first full day of our May tour with my
@oriolebirding.bsky.social group in Mallorca saw us see the first Lesser Flamingo for the islands in maybe over 30 years! We also found a Pectoral Sandpiper and enjoyed Collared Pratincole, Temminck's Stint and Wood Sandpiper at the Salobrar de Campos.

Think #stormpetrels just wing it to find a meal? 🍽️ Think again! Finally, our study is out: these tiny #seabirds use ocean dynamics to find #foraging grounds in the #WestMed. And guess what? Well-placed #MPAs help keep their ‘favorite restaurants’ open.🧑‍🍳 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
