I think I prefer animals to humans! Politically moderate/progressive; not a religious guy. Into psychology, poly sci, philosophy, sociology, values/virtues & ethics. Got two dogs and one wife. Volunteer. Woodworker. Author. Lifelong student.
Not to mention it's pretty hard to take this guy seriously. But then again, Athens pretty much was over Socrates after about ten days... So maybe he's wise, I dunno. He's definitely annoying and self-important.

She is alright by me but she does face the threat of vanity. It has plagued almost every politician since John Adams. But maybe she will get her course straight and defeat her opponents. Don't count her out by any means.

Let's keep 'em comin!

Then did he raise his hands like NRA Pres. Charleton Heston-slash-Russell Crowe in "Gladiator" and yell, SO LET'S KEEP ON CHEATING TO WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent. Many businesses are conducted ethically, and observe the triple bottom line: not just Profits, but also People and the Planet. It's just that a lot of fools grow up not caring about much beyond prestige and power--and they feel that money and recognition are the ways. Hence finance majors

Excellent.
I think we are about 50% in agreement. I value research, but informed consent is pretty much an ethical imperative in my mind. Further, B) humans suffer; always have, always will. Much of it is in fact human-caused. C) many studies are/can be done with humans--no analogues necessary!

Oh gosh, wow, 200.... Then again it is surprising that two HUNDRED people in that small little area are still so under this modern-day Jim Jones' spell that they will come out in the snow, mug for the cameras, and pretend to get or to like what this washed up con man is selling.
December 12, 2025 at 2:15 PM
That LtotheE is fair I suppose. But humans always have the ability to give informed consent, whereas animals never do. Plus just the idea that--and no offense is intended--that researchers absolutely MUST proceed with their research because it is soo important. Much of that claim is mere vanity.

It is unbelievable. But then again, it's not that hard to fathom, is it?? We need only look at the "founding fathers" to see how our trajectory was kinda screwy from the jump. I mean, other countries were pretty fucked up in the 1700s too. But what have we done in 250 years to really be proud of...
December 12, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Probably a liiiiittttlllee self-congratulatory to CA. I know large numbers of people leave there every year either for instrumental or philosophical reasons, so it's no paradise.
December 12, 2025 at 1:59 PM
By "brought babies" do you mean like something from Grimm's Fairytales, they dropped off human babies?? hehee
December 12, 2025 at 1:58 PM
Plus Adam Smith wrote The Wealth of Nations, which is a real feather in his cap.

I do think the crows are taking more than their share....they always seem to arrive in decent numbers within oh 2-5 minutes of me throwing seed on my deck. Therefore the squirrels are behind the 8 ball. Oh well I guess I'm not in charge of the universe.
December 12, 2025 at 1:53 PM
I think I follow. I wish, however, that we used animals less for research. Human beings tend to think we are the most important things on the planet, and therefore can compel other animals to participate--& often suffer, occasionally die. And what does America do with all this knowledge? Look at us.
December 12, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Yep already fed the squirrels and crows this morning!
December 12, 2025 at 1:47 PM
I'm sure this keeps Noem up at night. That plus a grilling that rivals something that Burger King would do to a piece of beef the other day in front of that committee probably makes her wish she was just an actress-slash-model instead of an arch-fascist destined to be in the public eye.

Turns out I am a prejudiced fool. At first I was sure that the whole "Paulson" + "major capitalist big wig" ideas indicated her relation to Hank Paulson, of Great Recession fame, which made me think how much of America's upper class is a hereditary aristocracy.
Well, it's nice to be surprised!

I appreciate it :)
December 12, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Thank you!
December 12, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Wow, election fraud + a pardon + a pardon attempt that is bogus is just so Trump, is it not?
