To all new followers: welcome! I will be your tour guide for the next 30 years, until Disneyland's 100th birthday.

Building a digital Disneyland archive at Parkendium (mediagraph.io/parkendium), currently featuring over 225,000 assets in the Public Archive.
On the desert theme, about 15 years ago I read about Rice Valley described in a wilderness guide: "If you are in need of a little isolation and desolation, then Rice Valley may be the place for you." Went there on a winter solstice and found it as advertised.

Dark, soft, and moody. Just the way I like Disneyland at night. #DisSky

In looking through photos, that detail appears to have been added in the mid-1970s (so we know Walt didn't wake up one morning in his apartment and have it done).

Do we know how many times Walt Disney rode a horse at Disneyland? Seen here with Fess Parker in the 1955 Thanksgiving Day parade opening the Mickey Mouse Club Circus.

You don’t see that often in the morning at Disneyland…

You may already know this, but Kevin hand-lettered the Parkendium logo! I told him I wanted it to look like something that would be at home on an old leather-bound reference work.

So far it's just been applied to 100,000+ digital objects, but one day...

This post is like its own Preview of Coming Attractions for Tom’s Walt Disney Family Museum presentation in February.
It’s International Street, originally planned to parallel Main Street U.S.A. 3D photos were taken of the model which could be viewed through windows in Town Square. Scollard Maas was a film art director-turned-interior designer who eventually worked for Welton Becket doing the international Hiltons.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at the Walt Disney Family Museum on 02/28/26 about the origins of Walt Disney Imagineering (WED Enterprises). I'll reveal some new details & personalities involved with planning Disneyland that might surprise you! I hope to see my Bay Area friends there!

Upon further reflection, if Light Magic had not happened, and Small World Mall and the attraction entrance were not changed because of it…we might never have imported that blasphemous exclamation point from France.
I just want them to get rid of the extraneous exclamation point, introduced on the signage in 1997!

Another entry in Disneyland historical research happening before your eyes!
You ‘da man. I’m wondering if Schaeffing painted it for the film initially, then it went to Disneyland. In fact, I’m no longer wondering.

Just got a text from a Skip that they brought back our original Jingle Cruise radio show to Disneyland. Best unexpected gnus in a long time!
