Yes, I found that when I switched away from Amazon and Target et al, and toward family-owned business, my spending actually went *down* despite the higher prices because I became more judicious about my spending.

You should pay a little bit more to know the money is going to people who run the show. Small business can almost never have the lowest price vs the likes of Amazon and Walmart because corporations rig the game with their distributors and vendors.
