It’s such a great sign that a story is masterfully crafted.

Ok yeah, that was pretty cool. I’ve gotta explore his stuff more!

Whoa! I never noticed that. Seems I’ve unwittingly been doing iambic pentameter this whole time 😅

I was about to say I haven’t heard of him, but now that I’ve looked him up, I think I have. Might have to get one of his books now!

No worries, I didn’t take it that way at all! I really just meant there’s some folks (like you) with such expertise that it makes it intimidating to try that level of formal poetry.

I also struggle with the 10 syllables for some reason. I’m more likely to land on an odd number.

I don’t mind a sardine, but I definitely wouldn’t try one when I’m nauseous.

I really like that. I agree that it helps with understanding how language is used. Things like how the sound of words affects the emotion or how word choice can heavily impact pacing.

It’s readers like you that make me scared to attempt iambic pentameter 😅

But in general I agree. For me, some intriguing form or rhyme scheme is often what makes poetry interesting to read or write.

I’ve done one project of tiny poems. I think it’s alright, but I’m not sure I’ll try it again.

Yeah, it’s hard to be invested when you don’t feel like you understand much of what’s being said. Poetry definitely has a propensity to be too obscure sometimes.
