Ich habe meine Wurzeln (tief) in Zeeland. Dieses 'Zeeuwse knoopje' gehörte zu den charakteristischen Schmuckstücken in der Zeeuwse Tracht. Diese Ring wurde von meiner Großmutter getragen.

This was characteristic of the now largely disappeared traditional clothing in the province of Zeeland (the Netherlands). A lying photo. Four elongated pieces of soap are depicted, although only the packaging is visible. They are, among others, the (Dutch) brands Sunlight and Condor and are probably around 70 years old. We found them with dozens of others in a chest in the attic of my parents. Because they are multifunctional in times of need: to wash yourself with, to clean with, but also to do the laundry with (grated).

Today - 01-11 - is All Saints' Day. For me, it's a day of remembrance. Of my (grand)parents, my oldest sister, and so many others who were dear to me. They are no longer with us, but they live on in me. Even now, a candle burns for them.
