I bet anyone here could search up "Least Bad Tax" and find the real answer.

2 things Democrats haven't leaned into:
1. Republicans have QUORUM even without the Democrats. Business can still be conducted, even if the things which require "61" might not get passed.
2. Anyone still getting paid should be showing up to work. Make ARTICLE V CONVENTIONs a shutdown tradition.

George fan hearing about Mamdani-
“You know who else ran for mayor of New York on a pro-worker platform and was opposed by a corrupt Democratic Party?”

The Earth belongs to everyone.

We have a right to take up space.

As long as there are empty plots of land ... As long as there are empty rooms in empty houses ... No one should be involuntarily homeless.

Increase the holding costs of underutilized land to reveal and unlock its hidden capacity.

Awesome, thanks! 👍🏻

True, but I mostly mention this because you mentioned that Georgists rarely engage with macroeconomic concepts and rarely discuss interest across ten years of recent publications, which is so interesting -- that you, Gene, and I have had such different experiences of the same movement.

Yes, it sounds like a topic which gets revisited in the podcast, but the search function on the website didn't pull up relevant episodes for me. Maybe I'll see if I can reach out to Gene for those links. 👍🏻

Thank you again and looking forward to your next chat with Gene.

George himself wrote about interest, monetary policy, and many other macroeconomic concepts. After Progress & Poverty, he wrote several other books. One of them was Protection & Free Trade. Another one was The Science of Political Economy, which was unfinished and published after George died.

Georgism is more than the LVT. Georgists seek to examine all government-granted privileges and weigh their positive and negative impacts on the communities they are implemented in and their net effect.

Thank you for highlighting all the parts of Georgism you support and sorry that many of the Georgists around you come off like religious fanatics. 🙃 I think one of the benefits of Georgism is that it explains economics to non-economists in a much more relatable way than learning economics in school.
