A terrible photo with waaaay too many reflections of a staircase, a window and a chandelier but it shows a very large pastel drawing of the moon from the late C18th by John Russell.

I stayed just N of Dornoch last year overlooking Loch Fleet! Yes, I fell in love with the area.

Two autumn leaves one dropped from a climbing hydrangea all yellows and browns and the other a partial rich reddish brown oak leaf on a tiny test strip of vellum - waste not want not!

Near where I live is a field of sunflowers, highly appreciated by those of us walking through them on the footpath. They’re not yet harvested but are slowly decaying. I noted a ring of tiny spots of fungi around the back of most of the flower heads.

It has been glorious and so mild. Not necessarily a good thing… here’s my shadow and that of a nearby tree!
In a field of newly emerging corn in late afternoon light casting very long shadows from a tree adjacent to where I am standing. My shadow legs are very long compared to my body!

The Keep at Kenilworth Castle taken from the Elizabethan Garden in slanting light of winter sunshine. The castle is a ruin having been sleighted during the civil war but it is glorious despite that!

Popped to NT Coughton today for some colour - and found it in abundance.
Dahlia flower, bright luminous yellow with orangey-red stripes on the petals Autumn leaves of a medlar, multicoloured but mainly deep cadmium yellow and with the dark brown fruits peeping out from beneath them Three hawthorn trees dark branches intertwined with only very few yellow leaves at the branch tips but covered in large red berries. Very beautiful and definitely need to be drawn

Blaschka! Accurate glass models of sea creatures late C19th early 20th Perth Museum
A tiny glass see-through creature, species unknown with fern-like appendages and what may be legs. Spots on its top half A Blaschka glass model of a sea creature, a type of jelly fish perhaps. Various Blaschka glass models of sea creatures: moon jellyfish; pink sea fan; Oaten Pipes Hydroid and a female Paper Nautilus All are fine and very beautifully made.

Had the pleasure of visiting Andy Goldsworthy 50years in Edinburgh today. New work created for the spaces plus old ones known and loved
Fern fronds pinned by thorns to a wall creating an enormous, undulating snake piece flowing across the surface. Lovely shadows cast by gallery lights. Many (hundreds) of branches of oak in a double row creating a walkway between. All perfectly aligned at floor level but standing four feet high at least.

In Kent yesterday where it was nice to find a little bit of the Midlands lurking in what was the moat to Walmer Castle
What is perhaps a steel water tank riveted together then carefully hidden next to a wall with W Trueman Brierley Hill pressed into the metal. Brown with rust and paint flaked. Situated in what was the moat to Walmer Castle and is now a wonderful garden

A little gem in Leicestershire, NT Stoneywell Light and shade in abundance.
Tiny triangular window set into lime washed white painted deep recess of stone walls. Deep shadows. Limewashed stone curvilinear walls of a tiny narrow staircase lit by a single window. Deep shadows.
