I'm on Team Cat, but I play for Team Dog occasionally. Librarian at TMU.

Politicians will not save us.
Also happening in the academic monograph supply chain! A screencap from GOBI, the supplier used by a lot (most?) academic libraries.

Sending warm fuzzy purring kitten in your lap vibes to everyone who is feeling pretty dang disappointed and scared for what’s to come.

He’s totally fine.

Just hanging out in the dishwasher vibes.

And, done and dusted. Not sorry to see you go, #loser.

I made a Moo Deng Friday feels poll for class this morning. 🦛

You just never know what you are going to find in the acknowledgments of a scholarly monograph. Not quite thanks, but most certainly acknowledgment.

Important news. I have a new co-worker! Introducing Jimbo Jones! He isn’t very conducive to productivity, but he’s certainly upping the adorable imp factor in the home office.

My supposedly innovative employer has really done the extraordinary: cut a deal with probably the most exploitive company in the market, and ACTUALLY try to polish that turd by claiming they are supporting small-medium businesses while at it. The spin. It's mind-boggling.

Union meetings are important, but can be tedious at times.

I made muffins.

But also, DONNA! I’ve been meaning to show you this!! I got a gaggle of new books last week - including YOURS!

Love this quote from @shawnmicallef.bsky.social on the public library. Academic libraries and university admins, please also take note. We don't need to call them "learning centres" or "information commons" ...

"It's just the library."

Made this meme, inspired by #olasc. Gonna use it as a provocation for class discussion when I get back to work.

I'm reading the ILL chapter that I had temporarily disassociated in my mind. It's actually offering really helpful fundamental definitions!

Found this SK post from 2012 to describe a phenomenon (the lack of discoverability of book chapters) that I'm thinking about, and was delighted to see a comment from @tressiemcphd.bsky.social that *absolutely* hits the nail directly on the head. 💯

Oh dear.

At the time, I would have chosen Us / Peter Gabriel or Gordon / Barenaked Ladies. I still like both of those albums, but must admit that Harvest Moon / Neil Young has gotten more net play in my life than those two.
Sooo... I pick that one.

Would you look at this face?

This is just such a catchy album! Listened on repeat while on a road trip through Nova Scotia and PEI c. Summer 2001.

She’s here! It’s Lexi! She is a 10yo Shepard mix and super sweet. She and Mittens are feeling their way around each other. There’s been some hissing, and one low growl from Lexi, but it’s going surprisingly well?!?
September 29, 2023 at 2:23 PM
Oh, Cecily. This is bad news. Mittens sends you soft fluffy sympathies.
September 19, 2023 at 11:04 PM
As ever, he was true to form at the clinic and got a clean bill of health. And I got to play with and cuddle an adorable wee calico kitten!! Good day. 😍
September 15, 2023 at 8:36 PM
Mittens is going to the vet for his annual checkup this afternoon! He thinks he hates it, but then he gets there and preens for the vet, showing off just how darned handsome he really is.
