During the shutdown, my longtime group shifted to Zoom for fourteen months. We still use it if/when someone is unable to be physically present. Love that!

My first thought was a "a soggy lizard"! I know you make candy. Have you ever made gumdrops? Nothing to do with the salamander, honestly!!

There's a LONG literary tradition of the clever servant w/the street smarts his master lacks. This goes back at least to Roman comedy. If the stories were only published a year apart, I'd wonder about a common root, rather than direct influence, but Lugg does appear later in the Campion tales. So?

I went to college in NYC (actually, the Bronx) in the 1980' when things were not good. And I survived and rode the D train to my favorite gaming store. The NYC my niece is living in is SO much less hellscape. Like, not at all.
