A clear weakness of the framing rhetoric of 'evidence based policymaking' in politics. It allows for bad actors to set ridiculously high or low evidence thresholds and then invoke the authority of science or rationality for their evil ends. Not new, but ever clearer.

This used to be a line in a stand-up i would do. Well, not this line exactly. But the observation that in the US, when it comes to folks doing bad things in loos, for a long time the score was:
Trans women - zero
Republican politicians - 3 or 4
Men of religion - dozens and dozens!
