It is cheaper (like 10x cheaper) to pay the $10-15K tuition for a 30+ credit POST certified Professional Peace Officer Program (PPOE) to a community college for a new recruit to grow the force than it is to pay $24 million in OT.

The best money you can spend on any endeavor is on audit. Reviewing and checking for BS math is a prerequisite for providing efficient honest services of any kind. Also, read the room! Minnesota is getting intense national attention for corruption. Having staff to read what you vote on is good!

I recall something similar for T-ball in the late 1970s. We used to have a Little League parade in our town too before opening day. It was something the entire town embraced because it was a good and decent town. You can't grift and loot that kind of town so you have to make invent some enemies.

Also, they had to build the US Bank Stadium to get the Super Bowl. And the event asked thousands of volunteers to subsidize the event as concierge, first aid, etc. And it involved the moving of homes shelters and the deployment of the Nation Guard. So, yeah, keep the discussion open to the public!
