Philadelphia Miniaturia 2025: what an experience! I've never been to such a huge miniatures show before. It was overwhelming.

Miniature crochet by Rocky's Hill Miniatures. Granny square afghans and bedspread are hand crocheted using rayon sewing thread and a size 16 hook. Ethnic and eclectic miniatures by Mini Maniacs Miniatures including colorful Mexican sombreros, animal print furniture, dream-catchers, and painted cow skulls. Tiny needlepoint pillows, hand made using silk thread in cross-stitch and bargello stitches. The largest ballroom at the show (there were three), filled with tables where vendors were selling everything you can imagine, in miniature: 2-3 inch wide paintings, necklaces strung from tiny beads, picnic baskets, etc.

Warning... sad story.

I took this photo on Aug4th. The nest is four feet from our kitchen window. On Aug 5th, the pest control guy came to spray for carpenter ants (we've had problems). Without asking, he also sprayed "for spiders." Juncos eat spiders. On Aug 6th, all nestlings were dead. 😭 #birds

A 1997 British society piece titled "How suite! Trump's Brit of all right." It describes how 20-yr-old model Anouska De Georgiou was introduced to Trump by Ghislaine Maxwell. All three then flew to Florida and "enjoyed a happy weekend together." Trump then installed her in one of his apartments. This was the year before Maxwell introduced him to Melania.

I hate seeing these old trees come down. I used to watch a flock of siskins that would hang out in the top branches in winter. I suspect the new owners of the house didn't want to deal with the leaves. They also butchered every old rhododendron, but left the invasive ivy. And lawn. 😢
