Without an end to the armed conflict that drove them away from home, they can’t return to their territories. The Emberá dream is to be able to go home. ⁣Until they are able to return to their territories, they deserve just and dignified living conditions in the cities they seek refuge in. ⁣

The Reality for people living in La Rioja:⁣⁣
⛰️Overflowing sewage⁣⁣
⛰️Dangerous cooking conditions (over 80 gas tanks)⁣⁣
⛰️Outbreaks of TB, gastric, and intestinal diseases⁣⁣
⛰️Children exposed to contaminated water⁣⁣
⛰️26 children have died since 2024 in UPI La Rioja⁣⁣

This is artwork I made for Humanconet’s campaign for the displaced Emberá people seeking refuge in Bogotá.

Just 2 km from the Colombian Presidential Palace, over 1,800 Emberá people, displaced by armed conflict, are living in dangerously overcrowded conditions meant for only 450 inhabitants.⁣⁣
