Planning for Christmas Lego has begun. Sets have been divided between my son and I. The one set by itself is new and we will alternate bags.

GM and EVgo have teamed up to give me free charging credit that expires in (checks notes) a month and a half?!?

Well, I guess that's not getting used. I really only fast charge on trips...

Sometimes hacking a computer means a whole different thing...

In this use, I'm actually hacking (with a hacksaw) the case apart to add an I/O shield (custom made) so I can fit an older motherboard that was not designed for this case.

And thank you to […]

This sentence is my nemesis. I mis-translate it every time and I still don't understand the rules that make it work.

My first attempt at desoldering a BGA chip and it worked really well. Chip cleaned up nicely as well.

Disclaimer: I don't plan on using this chip or board again. So, I don't need it to work at the end.

One of my wife's friends is throwing herself a 50th birthday party in the style of "Prom". So, enjoy this picture of my wife and I all dressed to the nines.

So what is the deal with companies that send you extra products? I ordered two Awair Element air monitors in August and received them. Today, another box showed up with two more. No packing slip or order information. I haven't been billed for them (that […]

I wasn't having much luck with my Stanley #4 when flattening this table top. Out of desperation, I grabbed one of my Japanese planes. I've never had much luck with it in the past even though I tried it several times.

Man, that thing are through the top […]

First Lego table leaf is built and attached. Mistakes were made (and corrected). It looks ok. The gap (1/4") is a little more than I wanted, but I'll know how to fix that going forward (measure better and build over sized). I am happy that it stands up […]

I don't entirely understand, but when I went to flatten the other side of my table leaf... it was a lot flatter. I would expect them to be mirror inverses of each other. 🤷‍♂️

Final thickness is between 5/8" and 3/4" which for my purposes is more than […]

One side of the first leaf is now flat. My technique of using dowels to stabilize vertical movement didn't work as well with pine as it does with oak. Had to take a lot more material off than I expected...and I haven't even touched the other side. If it […]

Tried to mirror some gate legs for my Lego table and it went very badly. Somehow I managed to use the wrong pieces (swapped horizontal and vertical pieces). I had to completely unscrew it and start again. Fortunately, these won't be highly visible.
