Runtime is another consideration, but I’d say the most common reason a scene gets cut is because it flows poorly in context. A scene may work perfectly in isolation, but in the edit it may slow the pace, feel disconnected or interrupt the narrative in a way that harms the overall viewing experience.

My 7 year old self would not want to play video games with me because I’d absolutely destroy that little fucker.
