I basically fell into this accidentally but I actually think this is one of the great things about working a good union job. I don't have to be competitive, every day I'm doing something people appreciate, and the entire premise is that you're all in it together rather than anything zero sum.

I think @theophite.bsky.social has said it more eloquently, but I think Ezra just desperately wants to believe in people and doesn't want to think that a significant number just need to be pushed into obscurity and non-participation.

1- I never said they were geniuses, I said the D primary was more left-leaning than the general population. 2- Trump is somewhat a proof of concept of this but the Dem primary makes it more difficult since the contests aren't winner take all.

The funniest part of this is that if you *were* going to make this argument it would be a lot stronger if you were talking about the constant warfare instead of executions.

If a candidate cannot win in the democratic primary, a much more left leaning electorate than the general population, then why would we assume they can win in the general election? I also don't see why Super Tuesday is particularly problematic, its not notably skewed ideologically.

Who do you think "the party" are? The whole point of the primary is to find out what the base wants, if that's AOC or someone similar then that's who we'll get.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that the peace proposal was Witkoff and Dimitrev freelancing together without particular support from either government, with Dimitrev then leaking the plan before anyone had actually gotten buy in from either side.
Economies don't need to make sense but logistics/physics ought to! @bretdevereaux.bsky.social makes this point repeatedly talking about both GoT and Rings of Power.

I think there's a degree to which people are confusing a logical economy with logistics that make sense.

You can see this in the contrasting example of the UK, where the 2 leading parties *are* collapsing and its in part a consequence of how centralized their parties are.
