The bus-to-DC kidnapping story reminds me of a line that I've had stuck in my head for decades now, from a friend who was on one of those buses that shows movies, who told me about the guy reacting to a subpar movie choice with "What the fuck is this, a MADE-FOR-BUS MOVIE?"
