Certainly. Like so much of what pretends to be news these days.

Oh and:
1. Black bears (been between a mother and its cub, I don't recommend it)
2. Brown snake (delicately passed over one in Australia)
3. King cobra (met hiking in mountains near Hong Kong)
4. Moose (canoed within a couple metres as it ate)
5. Loons (serenaded me all night long)

😂 having grown up with them I find this cute. 🐿️
I remember my wife first encountering them on a canoeing trip in Northern Ontario and my mother telling her off for feeding them some of her granola saying it would encourage them to come back and steal the teabags. (But really it was the bears.)

I'm happy with the PDFs but feel like I should be offering to take some off your hands. But also know I'll need to get rid of them from my office eventually! Maybe when you're near the end I could get a selection of what is left rather than individual ones, and add it to my Eco-esque antilibrary.

And they'll think you mean 6-7 and just roll their eyes and call you boomer again.

@eve.gd yeah, everyone over 40 is now a boomer. This started because they know it annoys us when we then say "how old do you think I am?!!" And then it just became the thing to call anyone old.

Not sure what the best thing to say back is. These generational marketing terms are stupid in any case.

Look on the bright side it could be in Norwich or Beijing.

With a name like that I assumed it would be much more problematically 'East'.

I'm send thoughts and such (not prayers) to Mrs Eve.

This seems small still given the amount UKRI is putting into the RICHeS programme, some of which is for preservation and data services for heritage science 3D data.

I think that all of these follow-on benefits are under-appreciated. Community engagement and things like research projects that don't end up being the killer app but mature our thinking about cognate issues. LLMs are a very blunt tool with many flaws but that doesn't invalidate earlier approaches.
