I stopped off last week to see the display by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association on metal recycling.

Over 80% of metal packaging is recycled. A great example of how the circular economy can work & a bonus for the environment by reducing use of raw materials & promoting sustainability.

Great to join Kings Cross Steelers as they celebrated their 30th anniversary in Parliament

From a conversation in a bar in the 90s, becoming the first & longest running gay rugby club to inspiring gay rugby & many clubs that followed

We’re proud to have them based in West Ham. Happy anniversary!

A #SmallBusinessShoutOut for the VA Salon in the Royal Victoria Dock. A hairdresser and beauty salon based in the docks since 2011.

A thriving local business with a friendly team who are part of the local community too.

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance.

🏳️‍⚧️💙🤍💗

We remember all those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobic violence. We recommit to standing up for the rights of all those in the LGBT+ community and we reflect on what more we can do.

It is UN World Children’s Day, today we remember thousands of Ukrainian children taken from their families by Russia.

Every child must be brought home, I’m supporting Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back initiative.

The Chancellor is expected to announce the DLR extension in her Budget. I will continue to make our case for the investment this week as I have been for the last year!

It's good news for West Ham and Beckton and for @abenaoppongasare.bsky.social’s
constituents across the river.

The first ever Men's Health Strategy was launched today

The plan will tackle the specific health challenges faced by men & boys.

Men's health has been overlooked for too long. We're changing that by speaking up & putting men’s health on the agenda.

Islamophobia Awareness Month and beyond we must combat anti-Muslim hatred, in our communities, in our media and everywhere it exists.

As the rhetoric of hatred has risen we must continue to fight against abuse and violence; and stand with our Muslim friends and neighbours.

It was great to be part of London City Airport’s STEM in Aviation event and to sit on the judging panel again.

As always, I was impressed by all the schools participating and have high hopes for their futures, whether it’s in STEM and Aviation or another field entirely.

Yesterday, I was happy to sponsor an event for BBC apprentices in Parliament.

It was great to meet the apprentices who ranged from school leavers to those with prior industry experience. I got to hear about their work and development in a variety of roles and teams across the country.

I visited the Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks development to see the site and hear about their plans.

It was good to be there with Historic England and learn how the project will retain and repurpose features of the Gasworks.

I joined Michael Gunning & Swim England to support their Water Competency Campaign.

Fewer than half of kids can tread water or float, life-saving skills.

The campaign asks for every child to learn to:

🏊🏾‍♂️Swim 100 metres
🏊🏼‍♂️Tread water for 60 seconds
🏊🏽‍♀️Float for 30 seconds
🏊🏻‍♂️Swim in clothing

Earlier this week, I met with members of the Newham Chamber of Commerce at their Women in Business event.

An incredible group of business leaders running small businesses and charity organisations in our community.

I have fed back issues and experiences they shared to Government.

In June, I led a debate on the fifth anniversary of Covid-19 and asked if we could create a database of memorials.

Today, it went live: www.gov.uk/guidance/com...

Giving recognition to memorials like the Memorial Garden in Plaistow Park and The National Memorial Wall 💛❤️

I recently visited Sofia, Bulgaria, in my role as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Bulgaria.

I asked whether long established funeral directors like we have in West Ham and Beckton would be consulted in conversations about regulations of their services.

They have been there for generations supporting our community through grief and their experience on this is valuable.

Today, we remember the men who worked at the West Ham Tramway and lost their lives in the First World War.

We also pay tribute to the people who try to maintain normality for their community through conflict. Like the headteacher at Ranelagh Primary School.

West Ham and Beckton has known the impact of war on normal everyday lives. Today, we remember the civilians and volunteers who have lost their lives or suffered as a result of conflict.

It was an honour to attend the Remembrance Service at St Mark’s War Memorial Silvertown.

Well done to St Joachim’s Primary School, the Sea Cadets and Albert for their contributions to the service.

Thank you to those who laid wreaths on my behalf in West Ham and Canning Town.

Walking to Abbey Road DLR you might pass this memorial featuring a stone lion.

The memorial lists the names of the 26 people who were employed by the Crockett Leather Cloth Factory at the time of their deaths in the First and Second World Wars.

Today we remember them.

There are memorials across our constituency that many of us walk past every day. This Remembrance weekend, I want to highlight a few of them and take time to remember the men and women they honour.

Today, we remember the 951 employees of the Gas Light and Coke company.
