Been mulling over the idea for months to start a podcast specifically covering the Oscars Animated Feature category, with guests and games, but do I want the stress of another large project? It is so easy to just let this be nothing more than a thought 🫠

Punxsutawney Phil is old and senile and shitting his pants on live TV. We can’t trust his lies.

All the love to Billie, but the #Grammys gotta do something about song eligibility. A single released before the album release splitting between the eligibility period is understandable but once that album is released, that song exists to the world. Should be for last year!!

Tonys need to add Spielberg to the 2023 winners list so that we can relax on the whole “is Spielberg an EGOT winner or not??” ordeal. He got the statue but not the published recognition? You can’t “officially EGOT” even if you technically have all 4 statues? *flips table*

Question: when the Dalai Lama wins a #Grammy, does that mean all of the Dalai Lamas before him also win the Grammy or just the current Dalai Lama?

SUNDANCE #5: #Carousel #Sundance2026

It seems people are really cool on this one, but I was really taken with it! It’s just so romantic! boxd.it/cVLpsx
A ★★★★ review of Carousel (2026)
SUNDANCE #5:  Rachel Lambert proves that familiar romantic stories can hit expected beats and still work as long as the leads have sizzling chemistry and the character work is complex and nuanced. The...

Seeing a lot of Oscar projections already on JOSEPHINE out of Sundance, and I really do feel in my gut that it’s a bit overblown. This will be a tough sell, tough watch and not in the ways the Academy usually appreciates. NBR, young performer awards, indie spirits feel like the ceiling to me tbh.

Melania is a history-making film!!
Melania reviews are in. Not sure I've ever seen this from Metacritic before.

Spent no money today ❤️ (as long as my rent automatically depositing doesn’t count) #FuckICE

SUNDANCE #3: #Josephine #Sundance2026

Still wrestling some thoughts on this one, but hard to not respect its navigation through an impossibly tough situation.

A ★★★½ review of Josephine (2026)
SUNDANCE #3: One of the most difficult sits you’re likely to experience all year, Beth de Araújo‘s film is an emotionally draining but empathetic portrait of innocence lost far too soon. Much rests on...

One of the most head-spinning days the internet has given us in ages.

When people start saying “the late, great Catherine O’Hara”, it should be law of the land that GREAT must be spelled in all caps.

Catherine O Hara passing took the wind out of me. Crumbled my soul to dust. What an outstanding career and just an incredible person to lose.

Andrew Stanton, maybe live-action movies just aren’t for you.

Randomly started a Malcom in the Middle rewatch. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. Miss the time this used to be on right after The Simpsons. One of those era-defining shows that teleports your brain into the comfort of early aughts entertainment & genuinely hysterical no matter what age you are.

We are in for such a weird awards season in 2028 if all four of those Beatles films are great. How do you campaign 4 interlocked films with 4 lead actors? Who gets the awards push? What film do they push in Best Picture? What film contends for Best Makeup/techs? We shall see in 2-3 years..

Hopefully it’s not just “a good angle” but Mescal in the makeup looks extraordinarily on point as Paul McCartney. Casting that feels like they genuinely couldn’t have chosen better and might do for Mescal in terms of superstardom what Gladiator II couldn’t do.
