I think the bit that is missing with the mentor scheme where I am is that it is for new staff and if you transition to a new role then it is assumed that you do not need that support.

It’s not really something that anyone is interested in. But I make sure that I have plenty of contact outside my working day.

It can be tough being the only female in a team. I always have to push back as it is assumed I will to the caring and admin jobs.

University systems and how they are integrated with assessment can be a barrier and limit choices that can be offered to students and needs to be planned well in advance.

Time available to study plays a role here students with limited time may chose to go with more structured study.

It is on my wish list to create a resource to disseminate students research that I am sure will be helpful for incoming project students.

Completely agree with this, but often for today’s time poor students the dissemination step is skipped especially if it is not credit bearing.
