Ugh, I've had my eye on one of these for years as well. Price is just not moving, and that coupled with possible electrical upgrade requirements.

Sounds like a good use case for simulacrum. We did the same with github and auth0 (and a whole bunch of proprietary client APIs) with it.

Sounds like a good use case for simulacrum. We did the same with github and auth0 (and a whole bunch of proprietary client APIs) with it.

Unfortunately, there is little to no financial / capitalistic incentive for it, so progress is slow in the space. I've been working on an OSS personal finance app for years, and there are still gaps I'm trying to figure out how to fill.

Honestly, I think this is what drives much of my interest in local first. When data and (compiled) code is owned by the user, it becomes a lot more difficult for someone to abuse the relationship.
