(apparently there is stuff in Calibre to handle this, but I don't use Calibre. There are also something called kepubify.)

yeah, my Kobo reads epub files in Adobe Digital Editions (and I don't like when that happens), but books from the Kobo store are kepubs and read in the Kobo software(?) You can just change the extension before sideloading, but a small amount of functionality is lost.

My sideliading frustration is the kepub/epub thing, but I also don't know if it's different on newer versions. (Don't think so?)

I haven't had a cord problem (I think I've actually been using my paperwhite cord lately? and it's fine), but maybe I've been lucky...also my Kobo is almost 8 years old...

don't have a lot of thoughts b/c I had chemo today, but I liked what I saw. Will watch the second episode tomorrow or Monday.

(When we sold film rights to my holidays with the wongs series to a Canadian production company, I was told they were looking for a book by a Canadian author to adapt.)

One think I think that is getting missed in the "why this book?" conversation is the Canadian aspect. It was made by a Canadian streaming service. There are Canadian content (CanCon) requirements here. They may have specifically wanted a book by a Canadian author.

I watched the first episode today and enjoyed it. It's just the sort of thing I'd want from a romance adaptation.

omg. we're missing most of this in Toronto, but some places nearby are getting 30 cm.
