This is it for me, too. My parents tell me I dabbled in baseball 2-3 seasons before, but 88 was when I fell hard.
To my 9-year-old eyes, Mike Greenwell was The Man.
Wish I’d worked my way over and said hi when he and Sam Horn did a Sox pregame event down in Tampa.

I’m a New Englander and my first full season following baseball was 1988. So my first impression of baseball was that Mike Greenwell was superman. He had a great career, but he never quite matched that level again. Still, that’s the Mike Greenwell I’ll always remember. MVP. This one hurts.

Popped in for (almost) post-ride beer and got a “share the WiFi password” prompt for somebody I haven’t seen in at least 5 years. Hope they’re enjoying their beverage.

15 years ago tomorrow, we launched welovedc.com, as a bunch of writers who had been writing under another company's banner. We were pulling pretty good traffic for Metblogs - top tier on that network - but the redesign left us out, & the owners were jerks about it. It feels very similar now.
Not going lie, I briefly felt special upon seeing this just after I signed up for Bluesky 🤣
