Like Doug Ford's meddling is so inconsistent and illogical, which is puzzling, until you realize the key to all of it is "don't make drivers feel bad"

I think this explains the odd set of policies supported by Doug Ford specifically:
- underground transit lines: good, no visible change to streetscape
- speed cameras: bad, goes against driver intuition
- speed bumps: good, part of normal roads
- cycle tracks: bad, implies you could also bike

it does undermine the accelerationist argument, I guess. maybe that's a bright spot? grasping at straws here...

it is not encouraging.

even as they become literal targets of the police state, you just can't get people to admit that the police are a fucking problem.

much less anyone who will say, "hey, we have gotten to the natural endpoint of funding the police and nothing else; maybe we should consider reversing course?"

hard to find an elected official even now who will just say, "we need to abolish ICE", even though ICE's approval is horrible; even though they are literally attacking elected Ds.

of course, there's also absolutely no soul searching or reconsideration on the part of those who spend all their time telling us that "defund the police" is an evil irresponsible request.

activists being told for decades that less money for the police is a ridiculous, irresponsible, impossible demand...and now we see what happens when there is no limit on police funding.

are we safer? is the result of more policing more security? hm.

Those of you that worked for me at one of my companies, have seen me pull all nighters, working 24 hrs like a college student.

I've also pulled all-nighters trying to do my part as one part of a two parent team, caring for a sick baby.

Being a decent dad and partner was way harder. Not even close.
