Looks like folks at #SC25 can get their own fractal. The kiosks seem fussy and one was broken when we showed up, but I got mine!

We all have these users. Christina Gancayo did a wonderful talk about the importance of #hpc training.

Heading to Columbus, OH today to attend #PEARC and excited that I will be doing a short talk Monday during the @womeninhpc.bsky.social workshop about our student mentorship program and the lessons learned.

The talk of Illinois voting on a new flag has me thinking... Starkville needs a new flag. Ours is bad. Like really bad. Like someone just took some marketing material and printed it on a tablecloth, hung it on a flagpole, and called it a day bad.

Looking through photos from #SC24, for me, as an enjoyer of tiny objects (ask one of my colleagues about our tiny object collections), the model of El Capitan had me swooning a little bit. Vertiv had a similar model of theirs, and now I want to make one of whatever we fill our new DC with.

What I like about conference week is that I usually end up walking quite a bit. Here’s the data from the last three SC conferences. #SC24 continues that trend. The first day or two are my heaviest walking days as I bounce between workshops and figuring the area out. Then fatigue sets in.

I’m glad I’ve gotten comfortable below 20%. Makes for faster road trips where I’m not obsessed with getting all the way to 80%. Just get what I need to make it to the next location with a bit of reserve to divert.

16% is 41 miles. I’m home now, and I still have plenty to get dinner with friends.
