Chicken Alfredo with grilled carrots.

Grilled carrots are severely underrated in my book. Magnificent.

Sometimes I kinda wish that Columbo had more episodes, perhaps more like how Murder She Wrote ran for a whopping 264 episodes in its run. But then I realized that I only ever really watch/enjoy the first 8 seasons/45 episodes.

Pretty much every single one of those is a banger.

Thank you! Though it’s exceptionally difficult to screw up chili, I feel. Even just a simple chili with plain saltines on a cloudy, cold day is pretty top tier.

As the weather turns colder here and it starts dropping below freezing in the morning, autumn has arrived. It’s time to subsist on chili for a week.

Vegetarian three bean chili.

Was cleaning/consolidating boxes and found an old Surface RT I haven’t touched since it released. But, there is hope! There are couple of Linux distros that can run on it. I wonder if I could get it to just boot straight into dosbox like dosbian and have a little DOS tablet around the house.

I cannot believe that the bro has had 5 decades since the 60s to reflect on this... and then in <<2025>> posted this and expected it to go down like this:

Saw a recipe a while back for French onion mashed potatoes and knew I’d have to give them a shot one evening. And they are pretty good. Might be my go to mashed potatoes, taking over garlic mashed potatoes, from now on. 🥔

Mounted the IBM EGA card and IBM PGC card. Really happy with the way these both turned out.

I need to dig through my video card box and see what I want for the last display of the set. I *think* I still have a 3dfx Voodoo card paired with a trident VGA card. But I might have to”loaned” that out.

I know I should print little test harnesses first to make sure my designs work/tolerances are accurate. But sometimes it’s satisfying to just print the whole thing and see if it works first try.

The mounting bracket for the IBM PGC.

After many a delay and 3d-printing procrastination, I finally got my original IBM Monochrome/Printer and IBM CGA graphics cards mounted and hung my workspace. For the mount I eventually settled on an interlocking mount that pinches the backboard and is essentially just an 8-bit ISA slot.

I’ve watched a lot of the Carol Burnett show, but it’s really hard to find “full” episodes. Unlike a lot of classic sitcoms like I Love Lucy or Columbo, even on DVD/Blu-ray compilations you’ll often find episodes with segments missing/rearranged/split into “two” 25 minute episodes for syndication.

Last week, for fun, I was practicing mother sauces and started with the béchamel. This week it’s sauce tomat, made a container of it last night.

Lunch today: penne in a vodka sauce.

🔥 Gaming hot-take of the day:

GBA/GC crosslink cable was massively underrated and provided some of the most unique/interesting gameplay experiences I’ve ever had (from arcade to console to pc)

Pac-Man VS, FF: Crystal Chronicles, and, last but not least, Four Swords on GBA/GC were something else!
