If you can swing it, you should! I don’t remember the numbers, but I think you get charged interest compounding every day from when your underpaid taxes were due, so you end up paying more come April.

Yeah, it’s been awhile for me, so others probably have better advice, or you should look into an accountant to work with you as they’re pros at it. But opening a bank account purely for taxes is a good way to separate it out so you aren’t tempted to spend it.

As a full time employee, usually you have taxes withheld every paycheck, so you’re paying taxes as you go all year. That doesn’t happen with self employment, so you need to send quarterly.

No no, you’re paying the estimated amount that you’d normally pay at the end of the year, divided into 4 chunks, paid throughout. If you don’t do this, pretty sure there are fines.

Yeah it’s a big shock the first time. Best to keep 25-30% squirreled away and not to touch it. Also don’t forget to pay estimated taxes quarterly so you don’t get fined at the end of the year come normal tax season!

Just cold water and dish soap! I put it in the tub with enough water to cover it and then just scrubbed with a sponge. Also let it soak for about an hour in the soapy water.
