When I was nine, my mam bought me a lovely new green outfit, green jumper, green trousers, green shoes.

I was so happy with myself until a young fella in the lane near my house told me that I looked like a giant snot.

That was the end of the green outfit!

Also, he knows well what he’s doing by throwing in “and all his other things” after his previous comment about conflicts of interest.

I am also currently working on a chapter for a collection of essay that explores the complexity of the Irish as occupying the position of both the oppressor and the oppressed, at different times and in different locations.

Yes, so important that this conversation is happening, thanks for sharing, and this is normally where my head is at, i.e. more important issues, but sometimes the Yanks just piss me off royally! 😆

I am very familiar with the history of racist stereotypes, as are most Irish people! I also have a Masters in Irish Studies, so don't need the tutorial.

But I am at the end of my tether with the anti-Irish ignorance amongst some Yanks!
