A quite frequent traveler based in Amsterdam. I do networks, infosec, scalable systems, cloud and now I ensure it is always a DNS problem.
I fear there are no good shortcut heuristics to predict relationship success and longevity. Unfortunately.
Otherwise I'd bottle that and be rich.

I get where you're going but I think it's not actually a good heuristic.

Would I trust them to be sensible with the code for the gun safe? Absolutely.
Do I trust their dextrous-ability not to accidentally hit the trigger? Hell naw.

Being clumsy does not prevent a great and trusting relationship.

Golden fleet?

I guess the showers on board will be golden too, right? That would fit the overall style after all.

We know the picture on top already...

Uh. How long does this last? I had a few weeks where I was *constantly* smelling something burning. Which of course did not happen.
Back then I thought maybe some covid infection destroying my nasal nerves (thank you very much) but should I be worried about stroke instead?

That's what she said. 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

Geeeeez. This is bottom tier trash. Why does a "respected" newspaper platform these people?

Even 4chan offers a better response on that "rape fantasy" topic. (presented without comment)

Serious question: In what circles was EU following US withdrawal seen as inevitable?

From my point of view it became pretty clear in 2023 that the EU was leading support on financial matters and 2024 made the same clear on weapons.
US withdrawing is painful - no doubt - but can be alleviated by EU.

Good attempt and I'm interested in the data/results.
But having seen how often the same prompt leads to *wildly* different results, I am not yet convinced that the prompt will be massively helpful.
A bit more data to understand if the initial prompt understood the actual problem, sure but more? Nah.

I mean, I'm all for dumping on Cathie Wood. She deserves it.

But I kinda feel there's a bit of a difference between making your investment decisions and spending 15sek replying to a believable feel-good slop posting. Not faulting her for that.

Her investment decisions are bad because dumb, not AI.

The local cops seems to have figured it out after some Reddit post got sent to their tipline.
The FBI was still going all "nuh-uh. Not connected!"

Amazing times we live in.
How a Reddit post blew Brown University shooting investigation wide open
Frustration had mounted that the murderer had managed to get away and that a clear image of his face hadn't emerged - until a Reddit post finally put police on his trail.

Hard hitting investigative journalism seems to take a while...

Cannot wait for the book... In 2030 or so.

Help me out here for a moment...

What is that water used for specifically? Concrete? Cooling? Something else?

Cause I always hear that water number in relation to AI but hey, last time I walked in a DC they all did closed-loop water cooling where the water is not drained away but recirculating...

Hufeisen theorem vindicated again... 😂

🤔

Okay. I think we'll just be disagreeing on that topic. Which is absolutely acceptable as we're both approaching the NYT from very different professional angles.

But remember the "concern over Biden's age" stories? css.seas.upenn.edu/new-york-tim... makes me be very sceptical.

I will give you that the newspaper of record did carry good reporting. As they should be.

But if you add it all up the overwhelming picture is one of support for Trump. Or something very much like it.
December 17, 2025 at 8:56 AM
I think in the end „supporting“ is about right.

The false balance act, the constant both-sideism together with the stenographic „reporting“ without any context and the unwillingness to ever call it lying all amounts to support as far as I am concerned.

Sensible but random op-eds non-withstanding.
December 17, 2025 at 8:53 AM
The column is not wrong but it rings extremely hollow for the nytimes to complain about the ogre.

The NYT was one of the newspapers that was out front and center sanewashing every rally and proclamation the ogre did before the election.

They knew exactly who he was and what they were supporting.

Or maybe stuff is hard and Starmer is just really bad at his job.

Maybe he just got lucky because the votes were that fed up with the Torries that even the village idiot would be a better alternative.

Or maybe genius Starmer has a cunning plan and is playing 5D-Chess. You tell me.

I mean… that is one way to fuck up your car…

Yeah. That party too was a disappointment in the longer term. But at least we got to see people like Marina for a while being excellent at their jobs.
