Also, this was supposed to be A JOKE.

Oh boy, I'm just waiting for vending machines that will give me buckets instead of coffee, sway an election, attempt to murder me, and catch me in a lie (and also use its product to make me dead). youtube.com/watch?v=4QDE...

Sci-fi has always shown us AI vending machines are a bad idea.

Here in Minnesota we don't even have overflow parking. We just commandeer parking lots from shopping centers all around the metro and run shuttles from there. Jerks who tried to manufacture their own overflow parking in the surrounding residential neighborhood made the city install parking meters.

It'll probably be inaccurate though. We had protests out in suburbs like Eagan and South Saint Paul. I'm going to wager they may slip through the cracks when people make estimates.

Vega is 25ly from Earth. Assuming a trip to Mars is a “reasonable” travel time (9mo), we need to travel at >33c. At that velocity wouldn't dust be an issue?

IMHO, the first was weak. Poor staging and writing, but the second was fantastic, and kicked off Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s best plots.

Captain America certainly was. Closest he got to a moral gray zone was stopping to think about a situation before making a judgement. His biggest personal failing was not returning to the present, as planned. He was a moral North Star for everyone else's questionable motives and beliefs.

“You know,” Cap announces, “last time I was in Germany, and saw a man standing above everybody else we ended up disagreeing.”

Marvel had some intestinal fortitude and a spine back in the day.

An old man rises from the crowd, and looks to Loki, “not to men like you.”

“There are no men like me.”

“There are ALWAYS men like you.”

“Look to your elder, let him be an example,” as Loki charges the scepter. The old man stands firm, resolved, then Cap drops from the sky and blocks the blast.

Rewatched the original Avengers (2012), Loki takes on a crowd in Stuttgart, commands them to kneel (they do, in fear) and monologues that this is humanity's preferred state, that freedom diminishes joy in a scramble for power and identity. “In the end you will always kneel.”

Alright. Ruling out the ice capes melting, meteors becoming crashed into us, the ozone layer leaving, and the Sun exploding, we're definitely going to blow ourselves up.

Like the Annunciation shooter. Kinda just picked and chose from groups to hate, with little consistency, fueled by online radicalism playing stuff off for fun.

But part of the problem is The Algorithm™. Twitter has been inserting posts from accounts people aren't following into their feeds.

Isn't “wild” just Tumblr’s default state? The site has always verged on feral.

Pretty much my experience too. The most vitriolic things said in connection to Kirk’s death have been his own words. bsky.app/profile/park...

One thing that I'm not upset about is how this whole sequence of events is casting a spotlight on some of Charlie's worst and most offensive opinions.
