Recycled or repurposed depending on how much life it's got left

On a drive that long, I'd expect one or more stops for food, coffee, toilet etc, during which time the car would be charging; for me, no more or longer stops than in an ICE. Overall, I find long journeys in an EV less tiring than an ICE car because they are quieter and smoother.

An EV doing 3 miles per kWh (on the low side) at that cost of electricity would be 10 cents per mile for electricity. In the UK, you can get a cheap overnight tariff (around 7 pence per kWh) which makes it quite a lot less.

That was an autocorrect incorrect. Can you charge at home and how much is electricity where you are? If you can charge at home, you can start any day with 100% battery without having to visit a gas station.

How often and how long do you stop for on a 450 mile drive? 10 mins once?

How much does the range reduce on an ICE car in a Northwestern winter?
Can you charge at home? If so, it's extremely cheap to run an EV.
How long do you stop for on a 450 mile trip?

Like an EV battery

and does it have a million mile warranty? If not, then presumably you wouldn't have one

Many EVs indicate the "state of health" of the battery, and many second hand car dealers provide an independent state of health report on the battery.

I guess this recall, which was a subset of vehicles and the fix was too replaced effected modules rather than complete battery packs.

Hybrid batteries are usually very different than BEV batteries
November 18, 2025 at 7:00 PM
That was the low voltage battery (12v) like you get in petrol cars too, not the traction battery (like you get in BEVs).

I don't understand why they don't all have "pin to drive" these days. They've all got screens, so it doesn't take any more hardware - just a bit of software.

range according to a standard, whether CLTC, WLTP or EPA, is the range under a very specific set of conditions, e.g. defined speeds and temperature in particular. Those conditions probably won't match what most people think of when they think of driving range, so the standard needs to be specified
