I love seeing them, but unfortunately for me, they’re very shy. Most of the time, I spot them sitting on a branch 30 meters away, and five seconds later, they’re already flying off. This time I just got lucky, but still it was only for a couple of seconds and from quite a distance.

You’re absolutely right, this was my first shoot using this setup, and I was testing its possibilities. The light wasn’t terrible, but not good as it was a typical autumn day here. Perhaps also shorter exposures could have helped to avoid trembling, but I didn’t want to push the ISO too high.

It was flying around the pond, screeching at me to go away. Then it sat on a tree and stared at me, btw in a not very friendly manner. After a while, I left to let it feed in peace.
