In the Diné Bahane', she introduced the loom, and by teaching the ancestors how to weave, protected them from the winter. She also aided twins Naayéé' Neizgháni (Monster Slayer) & Tobadzischini (Born of Water) in defeating the Anaye, who threatened the people from Earth's surface

She's also present in the traditional cosmology of many different First Nations from northwestern Mexico & Southwestern US, such as the A:shiwi (Zuni) & Diné (Navajo). She's known as Na'ashjé'ii Asdzáá by the Diné.

The Ñuù Dzahui naming customs traditionally referred to their day of birth in the Ñuù Dzahui version of the older 260 days cycle Mesoamerican calendar. "8 Deer", "12 Movement" and "5 Crocodile" for example are their birth dates. This cycle combines 13 numbers and 20 day signs.
