I don’t mind that Pepsi has a twist cap, but I would prefer it wasn’t modeled on a circular serrated knife. I can’t be the only one that feels this way.

Bite-sized if not biting commentary. In this issue: a two-Michelin-starred shrug, delivery butchers, a "seven-starred" beach club, black sriracha and a members’ club with restaurants… and bedrooms?

Ordering live prawns in the local Taiwanese restaurant. Turns out, they are impaled into an ice bed while alive and their final twitching moments are presented for sport and spectacle. Top lunch!

I do wish there was a search feature within Google Maps lists. I have an enormous collection of lists, so it would be great to be able to just search and find what I’m looking for. #Google, if you’re listening.

Tornado omelette no 5. The height and ripples are much better than my previous. This one was impromptu made from the leftover egg of a French toast from this morning so I do not have enough egg to keep the spiral going, but this is definitely the better direction vs last weekend.

Our final burger of the day because I have a cholesterol score that I’m still trying to bring down.

This entrant from One More was the most balanced and kudos for the bun studded with seeds for texture. #foodsky

The Maxzi Smash and Sear from @maxzithegoodfoodshop was probably my favourite of the day—and I am not a smash burger guy.

A chocolate fed wagyu patty with smokey guava and onion jam (sweet, not sugary), beef bacon (crispy too), cheddar cheese, Maxzi Signature sauce on a potato bun.

I am a fan.

The ShE Burger offering black Angus with coffee bacon jam and “signature she sauce”. A juicy burger!!

I heard of ShE Burger before the Championships. Sharing this one made me want to check them out.

That’s the beauty of these events: you get to check out many new places in one space.

Headed down to Media City for the World Burger Championships. Daytime park action and grazing through burgers?

Sign me up!

There were separate sections for local vs Internationals chefs.

The lines for the internationals were prohibitively long—another reason to support local restaurants!

Attempt number four making a tornado omelette. This one seems regressive and therefore need to get back to the drawing board! The issues start when I take my eye off the ball, get distracted by something else and then I come back and the texture is too firm to start rotating the omelette.

The loveliest late lunch at Piehaus today as LILA Molino x BOCA was sold out in <3 hours 😭 so, I licked my wounds—and my fingers—on this goats cheese thyme honey phyllo pie, burnt aubergine hummus and marinated olives—then the strawberry pie and a decadent chocolate one arrived *swoon* #foodsky #dxb

Tomorrow I am publishing a review of Hashmi’s Barbeque. A stalwart East African meets Indian restaurant in Al Barsha that I regularly visit but, for one reason or another, I have not written about to date. Maybe because I’m worried you will all go and I’ll not be able to get a table anymore.
