Obviously Reiner's filmography stands on its own, but his interview with Martin Short's Jiminy Glick is one of my favorite things he ever did (aside from the real world heroism and all)

Haha no that's a good point. Also, Reiner and the screenwriter had a great sense of humor about how poorly that movie turned out and Roger Ebert famously titled a book after his review, and they had a drink together and laughed about it.

Excuse me sir, I am a huge of proponent of to each their own when discussing subjective movie tastes and all, and I can even understand (would disagree with but I digress) liking this over A3, but having this over Aliens is a borderline criminal offense.

So, having experienced The Brutalist in theaters, imo I think the downside of an intermission is people generally compare the movie pre- and post-intermission instead of one big narrative. I certainly did for The Brutalist, so I can see why filmmakers don't use them anymore.

While I think the original is pretty close to a satirical masterpiece (and you're right, it definitely shows its age at times), I do wish we had a Director's Cut simply for scenes like these:
