Police are now seeking a specific user who chatted with Chai and published screenshots from their conversations. This user is not suspected of any crime. “We believe this person may have very valuable information,” prosecutor Jenny Östling said on Efterlyst.

Most of these alleged crimes took place after his previous conviction. Two of the suspicions concern involvement in two stabbings last year by another 764/NLM member known as Slain. In this screenshot from one of the Stockholm stabbings, the alias Chai can be seen attending the livestream.

The suspicions are severe, especially since Chai was a minor:
– 2 counts of attempted murder
– 2 counts of incitement to suicide
– 1 count of aiding & abetting attempted murder
– 1 count of aiding & abetting aggravated assault
– 1 count of aggravated exploitation of a child for sexual posing

Our investigation for SVT showed that Chai remained active within 764 while serving his sentence of youth supervision—a punishment carried out at home.

Chai has previously been convicted of 764-linked crimes: incitement to suicide, CSAM, and sexual offenses against a 13 year old boy.

He was apprehended for the second time in April 2025—the same day we published an investigation into his activities in the network.

An alias mentioned in the manifesto leads to a Reddit account. The account mostly posts about the violent sandbox game Gorebox – a game where users can freely build, destroy, and simulate graphic scenarios.

A video circulating on social media appears to show part of the attack. A masked individual films himself holding a knife and then approaching and attacking someone. Finnish public broadcaster Yle has assessed the footage and considers it authentic.

The motive is still unknown. However, in the manifesto, the alleged attacker states that he deliberately targeted girls. He claims to have planned the attack for six months and says he used ChatGPT during that planning process.

At 10:42 AM – the same time police were alerted about the attack – a manifesto was sent to the Finnish newspaper Iltalehti. The manifesto is believed by police to have been written by the suspect.
