A mechanism of synergistic Mediator recruitment in RNA polymerase II transcription activation revealed by single-molecule fluorescence
A mechanism of synergistic Mediator recruitment in RNA polymerase II transcription activation revealed by single-molecule fluorescence
Single-molecule fluorescence microscopy studies by Zhou et al. show that transcription activator proteins bind at UAS/enhancer DNA and then sequentially or simultaneously recruit Mediator coactivator and RNA polymerase II to form an initiation complex precursor. Multiple DNA-bound activators synergistically enhance recruitment by binding to the same Mediator complex.

With the @lindorfflarsen.bsky.social group we present our map of degrons in all human transcription factors, incl. examples of constitutive degrons in exposed regions & buried degrons that are exposed upon mutation. In addition, we show that most TADs overlap with degrons. Work led by Fia Larsen.
Comprehensive degron mapping in human transcription factors
Gene expression is regulated by the targeted degradation of transcription factors through the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Transcription factors destined for degradation are recognized by E3 ubiquitin...

What happens when a modern human-specific amino acid in a neuronal RBP is introduced in a mouse?

Please check if this question sounds interesting to you!

So happy to see this work published. Congrats to the whole team!

A lot of insights into RNA Polymerase selectivity at snRNAs promoters !! As these promoters are often used for heterologous expression of RNAs (ie guide RNAs), you better know how they work
Structural insights into distinct mechanisms of RNA polymerase II and III recruitment to snRNA promoters - Nature Communications
The snRNA Activating Protein Complex (SNAPc) mediates snRNA transcription by RNA Pol II and III. Here, the authors have used cryo-EM to resolve the structure of the SNAPc-bound RNA Pol III pre-initiat...

I will be attending MBSJ2024 (11/26-) and will be staying in Japan for almost a month after the meeting. Hoping to get to know new friends in the field, and also to see my former colleagues.

Cannot wait to enjoy sushi🍣 and onsen ♨️! (Been wanting to go back in winter for years)
